From an etymological point of view comes LABORATORIUM (laboratory) from Latin and is derived from laborare, from working/ work. The LABORATORIUM is a work space. In this workspace, sometimes even perceived as a cage, in which one, struggles with the creation of something, or even just tries to put themselves back in a quasi-pristine state, which might mean not being in this room.
